Lisa Lane Gioia (Libertarian)
BiographyLisa Lane Gioia was born and raised in the Detroit metro area. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a BA in Economics and Japanese, Lisa moved to Japan for a year of study, eventually remaining there for eleven years while working her way up from proofreader to translator to head of the translation department for a law firm in Tokyo. Upon her return to her native Michigan in 2002, Lisa founded her own business providing freelance translation of technical and patent-related documents from Japanese into English. With fond memories of summers spent in Caseville, and family ties to Pigeon, Lisa is proud to be the Libertarian Party for Congressman to the U.S. House of Representatives, 10th District of Michigan, and to have this opportunity to share the ideas and the ideals of liberty with the citizens of Huron, Lapeer, St. Clair, Sanilac, Tuscola and Macomb counties.

- WE THE PEOPLE of the United States of America are blessed in so many ways, in the fact that our forefathers created the best form of government, and in the spirit, strength, innovation and resilience of us, the American people. Sadly, we are now in an era where our potential - what we could become as a nation - has been taken away from us by the waste and restrictions of the Federal government. In each election, why should we have to settle for a choice between "the lesser of two evils" - between Republicans and Democrats who are basically the same: career politicians whose only goals are to get re-elected, and to maintain and grow their money and power at our expense? Heads, we lose. Tails, we lose. But we DO NOT have to settle. There IS an alternative. The Libertarian Party (LP) is America's strongest and largest independent party. Established in 1971, the LP has the goal of bringing "minimum government and maximum freedom" to all Americans - the goals of dismantling the huge monster that Washington DC has transformed itself into, reverting power to individual states and municipalities as per the Constitution, and restoring our rights as individuals. Would you rather be living as a slave to a self-serving, power-grabbing group of elite politicos who live off of your hard-earned income, and create, enforce and perpetuate rules that limit your liberties? Or, would you rather have the opportunity to keep what you have earned and enjoy the rights that our forefathers set forth for us and promised us in the Constitution? Your money - your rights. Tell Washington that WE THE PEOPLE have had enough, and that we are taking back what is rightfully ours.
